Job Insecurity and Depressive Symptoms in Mothers and Adolescents: A Dyadic Study

Abstract In this study, we examined whether maternal perceived job insecurity (JI) affected depressive symptoms in their adolescent children. Specifically, tested a mediator-moderator model which hypothesized that JI was related to indirectly via symptoms. Most importantly, also explored indirect path moderated by two buffering resources, i.e., off-job recovery and self-esteem. There is little research on the effects of parental children from viewpoint moderators. Due growing labor markets need more information about resources mitigate harmful within families. We structural equation modeling among Finnish mother-adolescent dyads ( N = 601, mothers aged 32–60 years; adolescents 14–18 years). Our results showed mothers’ did not mediate relationship between adolescents’ symptoms, but directly increased both mothers.
